Protopic 0.1% Ointment is a topical treatment used for eczema where clinically appropriate. It contains Tacrolimus 0.03% or 0.1%.
Tacrolimus ointment is a topical calcineurin inhibitor used for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis when conventional treatment such as topical corticosteroids has not been sufficiently effective or suitable. Adult flare treatment commonly starts twice daily when prescribed.
Suitability depends on your symptoms, medical history, current medicines, allergies, previous treatment and pregnancy or breastfeeding considerations where relevant.
How to use
Use Protopic 0.1% Ointment exactly as directed by your pharmacist, prescriber or the patient information leaflet supplied with the product.
The treatment schedule for eczema is: Usually twice daily initially. Do not change the dose, frequency or duration unless advised by a clinician.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed. Wash your hands after application unless the hands are the area being treated, and avoid the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes unless the product is specifically intended for them.
