Otomize Ear Spray is an ear treatment used for otitis externa where clinically appropriate. It contains Dexamethasone, Neomycin and Acetic Acid.
Otomize is licensed for otitis externa. Current UK product information states one metered spray into each affected ear three times daily. Treatment should continue until 2 days after symptoms have disappeared, with review if there is no improvement after 7 days.
Suitability depends on your symptoms, medical history, current medicines, allergies, previous treatment and pregnancy or breastfeeding considerations where relevant.
How to use
Use Otomize Ear Spray exactly as directed by your pharmacist, prescriber or the patient information leaflet supplied with the product.
The treatment schedule for otitis externa is: One spray three times daily. Do not change the dose, frequency or duration unless advised by a clinician.
Shake the spray before use, position the nozzle at the entrance of the affected ear canal and use the prescribed spray dose. Do not use where a perforated eardrum is known or suspected unless specifically directed by an appropriate clinician.
Not suitable where a perforated eardrum is known or suspected or where a grommet is in place. Licensed from 2 years of age. Stop and seek advice if irritation, rash or worsening symptoms occur.
If symptoms of otitis externa worsen, do not respond as expected or you develop a serious reaction, stop and seek appropriate clinical advice.

Side Effects & Cautions
Local irritation or sensitisation can occur. Steroid-containing ear products should not be used for prolonged periods without review and are unsuitable when a perforated eardrum is suspected unless specifically advised.

Severe or rapidly worsening pain, spreading redness or swelling, high fever, neurological symptoms, suspected perforated eardrum, significant immune suppression or severe symptoms in someone with diabetes requires face-to-face assessment.
Stop treatment and seek urgent medical help for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, collapse or another severe allergic reaction.
