Loperamide 2mg Capsules is a treatment used for diarrhoea & traveller's diarrhoea where clinically appropriate. It contains Loperamide hydrochloride.
Suitability depends on your symptoms, medical history, current medicines, allergies, previous treatment and pregnancy or breastfeeding considerations where relevant.
How to use
Use Loperamide 2mg Capsules exactly as directed by your pharmacist, prescriber or the patient information leaflet supplied with the product.
The treatment schedule for diarrhoea & traveller's diarrhoea is: 4 mg initially, then 2 mg after each loose stool. Do not change the dose, frequency or duration unless advised by a clinician.
Swallow the medicine with water at the times directed. If a dose is missed, follow the patient leaflet and do not double the next dose unless specifically instructed.
For short-term symptom relief only. Stop and seek advice if symptoms do not improve within 48 hours. Avoid where there is blood in the stool, high fever, severe colitis, marked abdominal swelling or suspected bowel obstruction.
If symptoms of diarrhoea & traveller's diarrhoea worsen, do not respond as expected or you develop a serious reaction, stop and seek appropriate clinical advice.

Side Effects & Cautions
Constipation, nausea, headache and abdominal discomfort can occur. Do not use to suppress diarrhoea with blood, high fever or suspected severe colitis without clinical assessment.

Severe dehydration, blood in the stool, fever of 38Β°C or higher during travel, persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, jaundice, confusion or severe systemic illness requires medical assessment.
Stop treatment and seek urgent medical help for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, collapse or another severe allergic reaction.
Use only as directed on the pack or by the pharmacist, and seek clinical review if symptoms are severe, recurrent, atypical or not improving as expected.
