Lactulose Oral Solution

Use Lactulose Oral Solution exactly as directed by your pharmacist, prescriber or the patient information leaflet supplied with the product.

The treatment schedule for constipation is: 15 ml twice daily initially. Do not change the dose, frequency or duration unless advised by a clinician.

Measure each dose with a suitable measuring device rather than a household spoon. Maintain appropriate fluid intake unless a clinician has advised otherwise.

Lactulose can take at least 2 days to work and may cause wind, bloating or diarrhoea. Maintain adequate fluid intake and reduce the dose if stools become too loose.

If symptoms of constipation worsen, do not respond as expected or you develop a serious reaction, stop and seek appropriate clinical advice.

Lactulose Oral Solution contains Lactulose as the main active ingredient or treatment component.

Bloating, wind, abdominal cramps and diarrhoea can occur, particularly when treatment is started or the dose is too high.

Use only as directed on the pack or by the pharmacist, and seek clinical review if symptoms are severe, recurrent, atypical or not improving as expected.
