Hydrocortisone 1% Cream is a topical treatment used for eczema where clinically appropriate. It contains Hydrocortisone 1%.
Hydrocortisone 1% is a mild topical corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation, redness and itching in suitable mild to moderate eczema. Many 1% preparations are used once or twice daily for a short course.
Suitability depends on your symptoms, medical history, current medicines, allergies, previous treatment and pregnancy or breastfeeding considerations where relevant.
How to use
Use Hydrocortisone 1% Cream exactly as directed by your pharmacist, prescriber or the patient information leaflet supplied with the product.
The treatment schedule for eczema is: Once or twice daily. Do not change the dose, frequency or duration unless advised by a clinician.
Apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed. Wash your hands after application unless the hands are the area being treated, and avoid the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes unless the product is specifically intended for them.
Use sparingly and only on appropriate areas. Product-specific restrictions apply, particularly for the face, eyes, broken or infected skin and use in children. A common maximum course for non-prescription 1% products is 7 days unless clinically directed otherwise.
If symptoms of eczema worsen, do not respond as expected or you develop a serious reaction, stop and seek appropriate clinical advice.

Prescription medicine is supplied only if clinically suitable. Severe, widespread, infected, blistering or rapidly worsening eczema, eczema affecting the eyes, or symptoms not responding to treatment may require face-to-face assessment.
Stop treatment and seek urgent medical help for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, collapse or another severe allergic reaction.
Use only as directed on the pack or by the pharmacist, and seek clinical review if symptoms are severe, recurrent, atypical or not improving as expected.
