How to use
Use Acetazolamide 250mg Tablets exactly as directed by your pharmacist, prescriber or the patient information leaflet supplied with the product.
The treatment schedule for altitude sickness is: 125 mg twice daily. Do not change the dose, frequency or duration unless advised by a clinician.
For altitude-illness prevention the prescribed dose is commonly 125 mg twice daily. If 250 mg tablets are supplied, only split a tablet when the specific product is suitable for splitting and this has been directed by the prescriber.
A trial for 1 to 2 days before travel is recommended to assess tolerability. Common effects include tingling, increased urination, nausea, headache and taste disturbance. Review sulphonamide allergy, kidney and liver disease, electrolyte disorders, kidney stones, pregnancy and interacting medicines before treatment.
If symptoms of altitude sickness worsen, do not respond as expected or you develop a serious reaction, stop and seek appropriate clinical advice.
